چکیده

Abstract When influence coefficient (IC) method is used in rotor balancing, it is possible that serious errors could be resulted in unbalance determinations due to the contamination of measurements and IC matrix being ill-posed. In this study, the availability of least squares algorithm (LSA) and Tikhonov regularization (TR) is studied by error estimations of unbalance determination with considering measurement errors. Also, the influence of illness of the IC matrix equation on the change of balancing accuracy relative to the measurement error will be simulated. The finite element method is used to analyze unbalance responses of a rotor-bearing system and the analysis results of both TR and LSA are compared in case studies. Furthermore, the validations of both methods are realized by balancing experiments of a rotor kit.

Unbalance Response Analysis and Experimental Validation of an Ultra High Speed Motor-Generator for Microturbine Generators Considering Balancing

The objective of the present study was to deal with the rotordynamics of the rotor of an ultra-high speed PM type synchronous motor-generator for a 500 W rated micro gas turbine generator. This paper introduces dynamic analysis, and experiments on the motor-generator. The focus is placed on an analytical approach considering the mechanical dynamic problems. It is essential to deal with dynamic ...

Helicopter Rotor Airloads Prediction Using CFD and Flight Test Measurement in Hover Flight

An implicit unsteady upwind solver including a mesh motion approach was applied to simulate a helicopter including body, main rotor and tail rotor in hover flight. The discretization was based on a second order finite volume approach with fluxes given by the Roeand#39;s scheme. Discretization of Geometric Conservation Laws (GCL) was devised in such a way that the three-dimensional flows on arbi...

Optimal One-plane Active Balancing of a Rigid Rotor during Acceleration

Rotating machinery, including machining spindles, industrial turbomachinery, and aircraft gas turbine engines, are very commonly used in industry. One major problem faced by these machineries is the harmful, imbalance-induced vibration. Many methods have been developed to reduce this vibration: o!-line balancing methods [1], on-line active balancing methods using mass redistribution devices [2}...

Investigating the Dynamics of a Ball-Spring Autobalancer in a Rotor with Non-Linear Bearings

Although the traditional automatic ball balancer (ABB) has numerous advantages, it has two major deficiencies, i.e., it has a limited balance stable region and it increases the vibration amplitude of the rotor at transient state. These deficiencies limit the applicability of ABBs. In this regard, a new type of ABB called “the Ball-spring autobalancer” has been proposed to resolve the mentioned ...

Field Balancing and Harmonic Vibration Suppression in Rigid AMB-Rotor Systems with Rotor Imbalances and Sensor Runout

Harmonic vibrations of high-speed rotors in momentum exchange devices are primary disturbances for attitude control of spacecraft. Active magnetic bearings (AMBs), offering the ability to control the AMB-rotor dynamic behaviors, are preferred in high-precision and micro-vibration applications, such as high-solution Earth observation satellites. However, undesirable harmonic displacements, curre...
